"Education is the most powerful weapon which can use to change the world." – Nelson Mandela.
Education system is the only weapon through which we can change the mindset of people, change the current political, social, psychological, economical, without any violence.
And the education system of the country shows the growth and development of a country, in which level the country is.
Education system initially started with a different intention where the students learn Veda, Purana, and scripture from their teacher without any fee. And the relation between teacher and student is called Guru-Shishya and the Shishya gives Dakshina to the Guru after the end of study in Gurukul, and the Dakshina is like a gratitude towards the teacher, as a token of love and to thank the teacher for all the knowledge and love. The relation was very pure like parents and children and the love and affection between them was so pure and clean, like water, without any expectation or wrong intention.
After this era, school education started where the relation between the teacher and student became so professional, where education is provided to students in a professional setup like buildings, classrooms, hostels, etc. And they appoint teachers and set a specific syllabus according to class.
And students learn and gain knowledge what the syllabus allowed to, which makes the student like a frog in the well, where they cannot explore other things, and are only handcuffed by the books.
But the education system changes according to time. In the traditional teaching method, students lived in the Ashram and got education. Then in the Middle Ages, students went to schools and colleges for study but now we can learn anything in our home through online methods. There is no physical presence of classroom, students, blackboard, nothing needed for learning. It is good for people who cannot attend physical classrooms, and for persons with disabilities. They also get education any time, anywhere.
From nursery to higher study, a student can avail online teaching. A person can take admission and attend classes from a university of another state.
School education also can be possible through online methods by using teaching apps like Google Meet, Zoom for video conferencing, Puzzling, Kahoot for puzzles, quizzes, gaming, etc. Swayam MOOCs courses are open for all students where students can take additional courses beyond their syllabus and gain additional knowledge from different universities, which are managed by different institutions like IIT, NIOS, NPTEL, etc. And different sites like Shodhganga for thesis (PhD students and teacher research scholars), digital library, and etc.
And the trend of online teaching took place more in Covid-19 where the world was locked down by corona when nobody was allowed to go outside, and all schools, colleges, educational institutions were shut down. Then government introduced a new education system, that is online classes through video conferencing, which helped the students in learning. Otherwise, all the educational institutions and students would face a great loss which would not be recovered through any policy or schemes.
Online teaching is one of the best introductions by the govt. towards us, but it has also demerits, which decrease and weaken the relation between teacher and student. The feeling of a student in an institution becomes fade. The memories, the interaction between teacher-student, student-student is zero.
Everything has pros and cons, but we also should give importance to the solution and should give a new opportunity to traditional classes. Traditional teaching methods, meanwhile, we should also strengthen online education.
"Let us not replace blackboards with screens, but let them stand together one for values, one for access."
